Dr. Porter has a B.S. from the University of Texas Permian Basin. In 1992 Dr. Porter graduated second in his class from Baylor College of Dentistry. In July of that same year he started his six-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in Louisville, Kentucky. During that time Dr. Porter earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his residency in June of 1998 and has extensive training in anesthesia, face and mouth surgery, corrective jaw surgery, removal of wisdom teeth, dental implants, facial trauma, and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Porter joined our practice in July 1998. He is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (aboms.org) and is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (aaoms.org). Dr. Porter is also a member of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (acoms.org), Permian Basin District Dental Society, Ector County Medical Society, Texas Dental Association, Texas Medical Association, American Dental Association, and American Medical Association.
Dr. Porter is currently on staff at Odessa Regional Hospital in Odessa. He is committed to providing the best quality service and patient care to the residents of the Permian Basin.
Dr. Porter and his lovely wife, Kristi, have two sons (Garrett and Dylan); and two Black Labrador Retrievers, one Yellow Labrador Retriever, and a Boxer (Jack, Domino, Penny, and Sammy respectively). Dr. and Mrs. Porter enjoy water sports, traveling, and Garrett’s or Dylan’s sport de jour. Dr. Porter is also a certified car nut.
