Dr. David P. DeWitt, DDS, MD.

Oral Surgeon Odessa & Midland TX, Dr. DeWittDr. DeWitt earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State University and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1987 and practiced as a general dentist at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma until 1992. He started a six-year residency in Oral and Maxilliofacial Surgery at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas in 1992. Dr. DeWitt earned his medical degree, as valedictorian, from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed his residency in 1998. He has extensive training in anesthesia, face and mouth surgery, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, dental implants, and removal of wisdom teeth.

Dr. DeWitt served as Oral and Maxilliofacial Surgeon at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana from 1998-2001, at Yokota Air Force Base, Japan from 2001-2004, and at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska from 2004-2008. He attained the rank of Colonel in November 2004. Dr. DeWitt joins the practice in the summer of 2008 upon his retirement from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of active duty service. He is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxilliofacial Surgeons (aboms.org) and is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxilliofacial Surgeons (aaoms.org). Dr. DeWitt is also a member of the American Dental Association and the American Medical Association. He has joined the staff at local hospitals and is participating in state and local dental/medical societies. Dr. DeWitt is dedicated to providing the highest quality surgical care to the residents of the Permian Basin and surrounding areas.

Dr. DeWitt has been married to his wonderful wife, Laurie, since 1982. They have two lovely daughters, Katie and Emily, who are enrolled at the University of Texas Permian Basin. They enjoy traveling, visiting family, and hiking. Dr. and Mrs. DeWitt are excited to join the practice and to live and serve in the Permian Basin community.
